Lab test doesn't confirm MERS in South Korean patient

Suspicions that a foreigner who was transported from Žilina to Bratislava's University Hospital on Saturday may have Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) haven't been confirmed by laboratory tests, Health Ministry spokesperson Peter Bubla stated on Sunday. The foreigner, who came to Slovakia from South Korea, which has been fighting the deadly disease for a month, is still under the supervision of doctors in Bratislava. The hotel in question was closed down and its visitors and staff put under quarantine. Not a single sample taken from the patient was positive, but despite these results, it will be necessary to repeat the tests according to valid epidemiological regulations, added Bubla.
