Slovakia was self-sufficient in electricity production in 2014, reveals a report on Slovakia's security in 2014 approved by the Government on Wednesday. Meanwhile, gas consumption has remained flat in recent years. With domestic gas extraction representing a minute fraction of the overall demand, Slovakia's dependency on gas exports still reaches around 98 percent. The report further notes that the Slovak-Ukrainian Vojany-Uzhhorod gas link was launched into commercial operation as of September 2014. This link provides gas transport to Ukraine via the border point of Budince. The transport capacity of this link is 27 million cubic metres per day. "The project involving a link between Slovakia and Hungary has been concluded, with a limited test phase now taking place," reads the report.
