Man caught stealing car in front of police officers

A Bratislava man named Jozef (60) was so intently focused on stealing a vehicle that he neglected to determine whether police were in the immediate vicinity. On Tuesday (June 9) the man approached a Fiat Tipo parked on Píniová Street in the Bratislava suburb of Horné Diely, breaking a rear window and entering the vehicle. All of this however was observed by police officers in a patrol vehicle situated nearby. As Bratislava Police Spokesperson Michal Szeiff informed the SITA news agency, upon discovering his audience consisted of state employees, the offender fled to his vehicle, a Dacia, but was apprehended by police before he could escape. The man was detained by police and has been accused of theft. The accused may now face up to two years in prison.
