Volkswagen Slovakia resumed car production on Monday after the company-wide summer holiday which commenced on July 22. During the production halt technological and structural changes took place in the factory in Bratislava. “The company used the traditional production stoppage for complex maintenance and inspection of the equipment. These works cannot be carried out during continuous 24/7 operation,” said spokesman for the company Vladimir Machalik. Volkswagen is one of the country’s largest exporters, investors, and employers with more than 9,400 people on its payroll.
