Indebted firm Váhostav to enter new highway construction tenders

Despite failing to pay €136 million to suppliers and creditors, the construction company Váhostav-SK is seeking to vie for the construction of another two highway sections in Slovakia, according to its spokesperson Tomáš Halan. On top of a previously announced stretch of the D3 motorway between Čadca, Bukov - Svrčinovec in northern Slovakia, the company is also set to table bids for the two D1 stretches in eastern Slovakia: the Prešov bypass worth an estimated €439.7 million and a section near the city of Košice for €209.4 million. Váhostav, whose largest shareholder is Juraj Široký, a man close to the ruling political party Smer, saw its restructuring plan approved by a court two weeks ago.
