On Tuesday Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico flies to Moscow to hold talks on the future of energy politics between Slovakia and Russia. The Government Office announced that the Slovak Premier plans to talk especially about contracts regarding oil and gas supplies, since Gazprom announced halting the transit through Ukraine in the years 2018 or 2019, and about effects of this decision has on Slovakia. This visit is closely followed especially because of the ongoing military conflict in Eastern Ukraine and the Russian engagement in this conflict. According to the political analyst Grigorij Mesežnikov from the Institute for Public Affairs, this working visit of Slovak prime minister can be seen as a political signal, since the relationship between Kremlin and the West has worsened.
