Representatives of employers, the government, and trade unions failed to reach an agreement on an increase in the minimum wage as of next year. They will have another round of negotiations in late August. If no agreement is reached, the government will take into account its official view that the minimum wage be increased by 2.4 percent to €349.50 per month. Trade unions would like to see it up by eight percent. Employers, for their part, oppose any increase whatsoever, arguing that such a measure would distort the labour market.
