Bank analysts have increased their estimates for this year's economic growth forecast for Slovakia. While in April they predicted on average that gross domestic product of Slovakia this year will grow by 2.6 percent, yet in May, they revised their forecast to three-percent growth. This results from the May round of a regular survey by the National Bank of Slovakia among analysts of commercial banks. Forecasts of economic growth for 2016 remain unchanged so far at 3.1 percent. Unemployment figures have also taken a tumble, finally falling below 12 percent in April to 11.68 percent, according to the Department of Labour. Bringing unemployment under the EU average (11.8 percent at the time) was a promise which the current centre-left government announced two years ago.
