Plans for the eastern Slovak town of Krompachy to quickly secure lost jobs through a new investor aiming to fill the vacant places left by Japanese manufacturer Panasonic's closure are falling apart. More than 650 people were given the sack after production facilities of the electronics firm were wound up, with many relying on the pledge from the Japanese giant that it would sell its plants to an investor which would plug the region's record rise in employment. "Panasonic is selling its plants to a company that will establish their warehouses and employ just 10 to 20 people. I consider it a disaster for the entire region", Mayor of Krompachy Iveta Rusinová said for the Hospodárske Noviny business daily.
