On Tuesday, the one millionth Kia Cee'd vehicle rolled off the production line of Kia's plant in Tepličke nad Váhom (Žilina region) after nine years since production of that model started, said Kia public relations manager Miloš Ondruš. The millionth car, a white coloured Cee'd hatchback with a 1.6 litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine, will leave for the Netherlands. The Kia Cee'd was the first model to be produced in the plant, with production starting on December 7, 2006. Since then, the car has proven the most popular in the Russia market (21 percent of all sold), with the United Kingdom and Germany coming in a tied second (both at 10 percent). The model is being sold in 62 countries around the world, with more than 20,000 of them in Slovakia. Kia now employs around 3,800 people and also makes the models Sportage and Venga. Since the beginning of production, around 2.024 million total vehicles have been produced at the plant.
