Slovakia exports agroproducts of lower added value

Last year Slovakia's exports of agricultural commodities were dominated by stock with lower added value, while imports, conversely, were dominated by agricultural and food products of higher added value, according to an analysis of the outcomes and trends of Slovakia's foreign trade in 2014 drafted by the Economy Ministry. "The risk of this trend continuing has been confirmed", wrote the ministry, adding that the difference in terms of agricultural products and food stuffs increased to €1.038 billion, while the figure seen in 2013 was €683.2 million. According to the analysis, just like in 2013, there was no diversification when it came to the partners of Slovakia's foreign trade in agricultural and food products, with trade as a whole, including exports, predominantly oriented towards European Union countries.
