Slovakia Agrees with Other Countries to Diversify Natural Gas Flow

Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak confirmed that Slovakia, out of its own initiative, has arrived at an agreement with three other countries of Central and South Eastern Europe to collectively seek new sources of natural gas and transport routes. Slovakia did that at the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit. Together with Hungarian, Bulgarian and Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministers, the Slovak minister signed a memorandum, which expresses political support for interconnecting existing infrastructure to new sources of gas supplies. The countries involved also declared their support to bolster capacities for reverse flow within their borders and pledged to seek new sources to diversify natural gas supplies.
