The Business Service Center forum was held in Bratislava on Thursday. United States Ambassador to Slovakia Theodore Sedgwick stated that the university education system as well as the newest measures in the spheres of labour and taxes has worked to reduce the competitiveness of Slovakia. "It can be competitive in the highly educated labour force, though," said Sedgwick. According to the head of US diplomacy in Slovakia, it's necessary therefore to integrate its education system with the needs of international companies. "If Slovak students will be sufficiently educated for the workplace, then they'll stand a greater chance of getting a job at home," said the ambassador. Education Ministry state secretary Romana Kanovska pointed out that Slovak schools already have a degree of autonomy when it comes to the creation of study programmes.
