New car producer choosing between Slovakia and Poland

The largest investment in recent years might come to Slovakia, as for now an unnamed car producer is currently choosing a site for building a facility that could provide 8,000 jobs. Allegedly all countries in the region were in the running for the investment, but now the list has been reduced to Slovakia and Poland for a final decision. According to the information received by RTVS, Slovakia offered the investor an industrial park in Nitra (western Slovakia), which contains the required 400-hectare land. "I would hate to come ahead of myself because these are really strategic matters for Slovakia. It's an investment of such scope that, if this comes through, everyone will be happy," said Nitra mayor Jozef Dvonč. No comment was offered by acting Economy Minister Peter Kažimír or the Slovak Agency for Development of Investments and Trade (SARIO). The final choice between Slovakia and Poland is to be made in summer.
