Fire-fighters have managed to put out an extensive forest fire near the village of Betliar (Košice region) after five days shortly after midday on Saturday. "The equipment was back at our bases at 5.31 p.m.," said an unnamed officer from the Fire and Rescue Corps. Over 50 fire-fighters and 20 workers from the state-run forestry company Lesy SR combatted the blaze on Saturday. The blaze consumed forest vegetation covering 27.63 hectares, causing material damage of at least €76,500.
