Defence Minister Martin Glváč unveiled the new lightweight mobile 'EVA' howitzer at the International Fair of Defence and Security Technology (IDET) in Brno, Czech Republic, on Tuesday. EVAs, which are about to be introduced into the Slovak Armed Forces, are Slovak made and are seen according to Glvač as "another step towards the recovery of our defence industry, after a long hiatus". EVA features a Czech Tatra truck chassis but the superstructure is made in Slovakia. EVA, which has six-wheel drive, is lighter than the earlier ZUZANA eight-wheel drive mobile howitzer and, according to Glváč, will also be more affordable. He added that if the vehicle passes the final tests, the Czech army will also be interested.
