Slovakia's Peter Sagan won the Tour of California race by 3 seconds on Sunday with a close third-place finish in the final stage behind Britain's Mark Cavendish. The Slovak cyclist riding for Tinkoff-Saxo began the final day trailing France's Julian Alaphilippe by 2 seconds, gained 4 bonus seconds for the third-place finish and a 1-second bonus during a mid-race sprint. "It was very hard to get this victory," admitted Sagan after the race. He won two stages in the event and held the race lead after winning the individual time trial on Friday.
