Fast rail link between Bratislava and Prague likely

The rail connection between the Czech capital Prague and the Slovak capital Bratislava could be significantly faster in the coming years, due to the planned modernisation of the track allowing trains to travel up to 160 or even to 200 kilometres per hour. Czech Transport Minister Dan Ťok started with this topic at negotiations with his Slovak counterpart Jan Počiatek on Tuesday in the Czech town of Valtice, specifically suggesting increasing speeds on the track section from Břeclav to Bratislava. Waterworks construction and the connection of the Vah River with the Morava River were also discussed, however Czech Premier Bohuslav Sobotka commented that it is premature to talk about the funding of the project. "The giant waterworks is very important, therefore, we have to elaborate an expert study as quickly as possible", Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico added.
