Car building workers earn a fraction of their true value, says survey

Employees from the auto makers Kia, Volkswagen and PSA Peugeot Citroën earn just a fraction of the amount they generate for their companies, reports an analysis from the web portal Finstat. Some staffers see on their payroll at merely 12 percent of the amount which they produce in the form of value added. This is most apparent in Kia, says the survey results. "An employee generated here an added value of €130,000 in 2013. For this performance, the company paid him/her less than €16,000. These people would deserve much more than they received", Finstat concluded, adding that Kia was granted tax relief as well as incentives in the past. The situation in two other car manufacturers is somewhat better. Employees of PSA Peugeot Citroën and Volkswagen get more money compared with the amount they generated for their companies. "For instance, a PSA employee, who generated value added of €60,000, was paid €14,700 and a Volkswagen employee received €10,000 euro more for the same volume (of value added)", the analysis reports.
