The major hailstorm that hit the districts of Prešov and Sabinov in eastern Slovakia last Wednesday caused damage to farmers amounting to at least €1 million, according to Arga insurance company. The hailstones, which in some locations were as large as three centimetres across, damaged mainly oil seed rape, wheat and barley. Crops on a total of 3,109 hectares in the two districts were damaged.
