The public deficit at the end of April equalled €990.8 million, which amounts to a year-on-year drop of almost 35 percent, according to the Finance Ministry. This good performance can be attributed to higher tax revenues of slightly over half a billion euro and to transfers from the European Union's budget, which saw an annual increase of €248.8 million. A positive development was also seen in expenditures required to administer the state debt, which dropped by €82.3 million year-on-year," reported the ministry.
