The Interior Ministry has announced a tender to buy a new vessel for fire-fighters on the Danube River, with the order valued at the somewhat curious level of €666,667 without VAT. "The Fire and Rescue Corps need the vessel to carry out work related to floods and rescue operations, tackling fires, environmental disasters and other emergency situations on the water routes of the Danube River," announced Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák's office. Fire-fighters currently have only one such vessel. "In terms of speed and efficiency of operation in rescue activities one vessel isn't enough to cover the entire water route of the Danube River in Slovakia," stated the Interior Ministry.
