Former Prime Suspect in Daniel Tupy Murder Again Taken Into Custody

Richard H., the former prime suspect in the murder of student Daniel Tupy who is also accused of other crimes, was ordered back into custody by the Bratislava District 5 Court. There is a reasonable fear that he may continue to pursue criminal activities. Richard H was originally arrested in February 2008, and was given a 15-year sentence. The evidence gathered by the prosecution was not foolproof, which was conceded by the prosecutor at the time under questioning by the lawyer for Richard H.. The indictment was then withdrawn. Subsequently, in the latter half of June 2009, the accused in the Tupy murder case were acquitted by the Bratislava District 1 Court. The court didn't recognise the guilt, not only of Richard H., but also the other four who were accused of attempted assault, battery and disorderly conduct. The Regional Prosecutor's Office subsequently withdrew its appeal and the verdict became final. Daniel Tupy, at 21, was murdered November 2005 on Tyrsovo Nabrezie Street in Bratislava, on the banks of the Danube River. According to the statements of then eye-witnesses, he was killed by a group of unknown masked persons (neo-nazis).
