Although the Slovak Treasury funds are depleted, out of all the countries in Eastern Europe, Slovakia has the smallest black economy. According to a survey conducted by Visa Electron, tax evasion in Slovakia will reach 15%, a half-percentage point lower than last year. However, some commentators are not optimistic. Executive Director of the Business Alliance of Slovakia Robert Kičina thinks evasion will increase due to the tightening of economic conditions and this will motivate businessmen with fewer scruples to circumvent the tax rules.
