Prosecutor General Jaromír Čižnár has appointed Rene Vanek to the post of First Deputy Prosecutor General. A spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General said, Vanek will take up his post on 10th August. Vanek has worked with Čižnár at the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor’s Office, where before his appointment as Prosecutor General, Čižnár served as county prosecutor. Vanek was Čižnár’s deputy there for the non-criminal section.
The post of First Deputy Prosecutor General was vacant after Ladislav Tichy the former Acting Prosecutor General and his deputy Ladislav Trnka were reassigned after Čižnár’s appointment to the post by President Ivan Gašparovič. Čižnár says one of his priorities will be tackling tax evasion.
