Parliamentary Chairman Peter Pellegrini has decided that a vote to select the new chairman of the Supreme Audit Office (NKU) will be held in Parliament on May 19. Members of parliament who want to submit their proposals with candidates for the post can do so until May 6. Peter Pellegrini said that the governing Smer-SD party respects the right of the Opposition to nominate a candidate for the post. He added that he thinks the post should be occupied by an Opposition nominee and that the candidate should be proposed by the Christian Democrats. Incumbent Office's head Jan Jasovsky, nominated to the post by the now defunct LS-HZDS party, has exceeded his term in office since 2012. Despite numerous attempts, Parliament has failed to elect a replacement. All votes have ended either in failure or with the withdrawal of the candidate.
