A prosecutor of the Bratislava District Prosecutor's Office has entered the restructuring proceedings of the Váhostav company as of Monday. "The task of the prosecutor in such proceedings is to ensure the legality of the progress and the decisions made in the proceedings", said the Prosecutor-General's Office spokesperson Andrea Predajňová. By entering the proceedings, the prosecutor hasn't acquired creditor's rights, however. Furthermore, the prosecutor's standing is weak in terms of powers. "Even if a prosecutor discovers violations of the law, he or she doesn't possess real lawful means to rectify the illegal state", said Predajňová, adding that the prosecutor can file an appeal only if the restructuring procedure is stopped.
