A commemoration on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place in Bratislava on Monday, held at the Armenian 'Cross-Stone' Memorial on Tyrsovo Nabrezie. The event was attended by representatives of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe, the Armenian community and also MPs and diplomats. The President of the Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe, Ashot W. Grigoryan said in his speech that one and a half million Armenians were killed by soldiers of the Otoman Empire and more than two million deported. "It is gratifying that in 2004 the Slovak Republic was not afraid to condemn the Armenian genocide", said Grigoryan, expressing sincere thanks to the people of Slovakia for their solidarity and support.
