Half of primary school students have behaviour and learning problems

The share of trouble-making pupils is growing, including girls, with as many as 50 percent of pupils now having behavioural and learning disorders, Children's Psychology and Pathopsychology Research Institute has reported. A large number of behavioural problems has emerged in the very first grades of primary schools, including truancy, impulsive behaviour and a negative view of education. There could be a cure to this via an online system called Komposyt, which aims to facilitate the diagnostic process in these areas, as well as help identify gifted pupils and those from a socially challenged environment, according to Education, Science, Research and Sports Ministry state secretary Romana Kanovská. The system, which is unique in the EU, has been financed from EU funds.
