Two men injured in explosion at Duslo Sala

Two men (aged 53 and 37) sustained injuries in a fire that broke out at the chemical plant Duslo Šaľa (Nitra region) on Thursday, with a medevac helicopter also called to the scene, as the younger man suffered burns to more than 30 percent of his body. The fire was preceded by an explosion of a railway carriage cistern with toluene that was being pumped over, said Nitra regional police spokesperson Renata Čuháková. The fire caused damage of €30,000. According to ATE Helicopter Emergency Rescue Service spokesperson Zuzana Turočeková, the helicopter landed on a football pitch in the nearby village of Veca, where the medical team received the injured man from ambulance paramedics. The man was subsequently transported by helicopter to hospital in the Bratislava borough of Ružinov.
