Prime Minister Robert Fico paid an inspection visit on Thursday to the construction site of the City Arena complex in Trnava. This sport facility is to feature both a rebuilt Anton Malatinský football stadium and commercial areas. Robert Fico voiced his appreciation for the pace of the construction of the complex that is due to be opened in August. "I'm happy that the allocation of funding towards the construction or upgrades of 21 stadiums across Slovakia has proved to make sense", said the premier. Once completed, the stadium should house 20,460 spectators. The projected stadium was designed in full compliance with requirements of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The cost is envisaged at €72 million, with the stadium - named after local-born Czechoslovak national football team player Malatinský - itself accounting for €26-28 million of the total. Other than the stadium - the complex should house a two-storey car park, office areas and a shopping mall, including a cinema.
