2014 saw fewer robberies in the Slovak capital

The number of robberies in Bratislava fell dramatically last year, with bookmakers and casinos reporting fewer incidences of theft, whereas post offices and pawn shops did not report a single robbery. In 2014 police recorded 112 robberies, 53 - or almost half - the number in 2013. The number of bank robberies last year increased however, as states a report on the security situation in the city. Of the 112 robbery cases reported, police solved 57. "Compared to 2013, there has been a decrease of robberies in all Bratislava districts, most notably in Bratislava V [Petržalka to the Hungarian border]", says the report, adding that this large Bratislava district recorded only 13 robberies in the entire year. Last year Bratislava's Old Town recorded six fewer robberies (21 cases) than the year prior.
