Foreign Minister Lajčák: People of Hungary and Slovakia to profit from good ties

The ties between Slovakia and Hungary are currently at their best ever level and this is beneficial for people in both countries, stated Slovakia's Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák during an official visit to Hungary on Monday. Lajčák noted that the current dialogue between the two countries has developed on the basis of a document signed twenty years ago, called the Agreement on Good Neighbourly Relations and Friendly Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Hungary. The Slovak Foreign Minister also emphasised that his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed that the two countries share priorities in terms of connecting the road infrastructure of Slovakia and Hungary. These joint projects involve the construction of motorway links between Miskolc and the Slovak border, between the village of Rajka (Hungary) and the Slovak border, a new bridge over the Danube River between Komárno, on the Slovak side and Komarom, in Hungary and 21 new border crossings between Slovakia and Hungary.
