Marek Hamšík became the best football player of Slovakia in 2014. It is already the fourth time that the midfielder of Italian team Napoli has won in the prestigious poll. Another four times winner of the poll, Martin Škrtel of Liverpool, came second with a loss of 13 points on Hamšík. The third place was awarded to Lokomotiv Moscow defender Ján Ďurica. The Peter Dubovský Award for the best under 21 football player was won by the midfielder Andrej Duda from Legia Warsaw.
