Renowned Slovak writer Peter Pišťanek died late on Sunday in an apparent suicide. His most famous work is the Rivers of Babylon trilogy which describes Bratislava's underworld in the early 90s. Its first part was made into a movie and translated into foreign languages, English and French included. Pišťanek is largely considered the author of "the novel, which concluded the 20th century in Slovak literature".
