No decision yet on who will go to Moscow to celebrate end of WWII

Slovakia has not yet taken the decision as to who will represent the country at the 70th anniversary celebrations of the end of WW2 in Moscow. Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák said this after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. He said he respects the decision of President Andrej Kiska not to attend the events in Russia and explained that several options are being considered. Lajčák noted that within the European Union they are looking for the right form of expressing a common position on this, as it should be understood that balance must be found between the two events. One thing is the unquestionable share of the Soviet Union and its army in the liberation of Europe from fascism and the latter is the involvement of the Russian Federation in a violation of international law by the illegal annexation of the Crimea.
