Helpline launched for abused women and children

A free telephone line and an e-mail address for abused women and children were launched on Monday at the initiative of Prosecutor General Jaromír Čižnár. When he was appointed prosecutor general in July 2013, Čižnár stated that one of his priorities in office will be the protection of children and abused women. "I view the launch of this line as one of the ways to do away with the high latency of responsible persons in these cases. I believe that if these findings are investigated by the Prosecutor-General's Office, it will be possible to adopt appropriate measures without any unnecessary delays", said Čižnár, who over the past week has been heavily engaged in the case of disgraced former Smer MP Vladimír Jánoš, who is facing a litany of such charges involving his wife and 12-year-old daughter.
