A 24-hour rowing marathon beginning in Bratislava next Friday has the goal of raising €10,000 for a hospital in Syria, said Roland Kyška, director of an association called 'Ľudia ľudom' (People to People), which organises the project along with Trnava University's Theological Faculty. "Rowing for Syria isn't just a usual fundraising activity. Joining fundraising with a physical activity and pointing to the suffering of refugees is a unique project - and not only in Slovakia," said Kyška, adding that rowing should symbolise an escape from danger. The organisers prepared three ways of supporting the fundraising activity: to buy 20 minutes of rowing in an internet auction, another way is to contribute via the Ľudia ľudom webpage, and finally there will also be the opportunity to contribute some money right on site on Friday and Saturday.
