Statistics from the European Commission indicate that Slovaks like litigation. There are over 7 ongoing court disputes per 100 inhabitants. Bankruptcy proceedings take four years on average, which is the longest in the EU. Civil and commercial procedures take over 500 days. The duration of trials related to economic competition was cut short but still represents about 800 days.
