Car makers plan to expand production

The Slovak Economy Ministry has submitted to interdepartmental review a proposal for issuing a certificate of significant investment for Volkswagen Slovakia. As stated by the Economy Ministry in the material, at stake in this investment plan of the automaker is the extension of the existing factory due to "the planned boosting of its production capacity". The certificate simplifies the settlement of ownership relations for the preparation of constructions that are an important investment and also serves as a document that the company attaches to the proposal for starting master plan proceedings. The Trnava-based car maker Peugeot Citroen plans an investment for this year too. It intends to inject approximately €80 million into the production of a new car model. Based on the findings of the Hospodarske noviny business daily, the French group is to assemble a brand new SUV model in Slovakia, which has not been presented yet. The new vehicle should replace the production of the Citroen C3 Picasso
