Vice-Premier and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák on Thursday met with UN Special Representative for Iraq and head of the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) Ján Kubiš, said the Foreign Affairs Ministry press department. Kubiš, the Slovak diplomat who was Lajčák's predecessor as foreign minister (2006-09), was appointed to his new post by UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon only last week. Lajčák congratulated Kubiš on his new post and emphasised that the selection of Kubiš by the UN General Secretary confirms Kubiš' extensive professional qualities as well as the good international reputation of Slovak diplomacy.
