Police Secures Firearms of Former MP Vladimír Jánoš

Police have seized the legally-held firearms of recently sacked MP Vladimír Jánoš (Smer-SD), informs Trenčín Police Corps spokesperson Elena Antalova on Thursday. Since Wednesday (4 March), police have taken an intense interest in the case of former Smer-SD MP and Prievidza district (Trenčín region) chief Vladimir Janos concerning his terrified wife Iveta Jánošová, who reported her husband's threats and verbal abuse to police, who have implemented preventive measures. "More information cannot be provided at this stage due to the pending investigation," said Antalova. Janos stepped down as Prievidza district chief and relinquished his MP's mandate on Thursday following a scandal involving transcripts of audio recordings between the pair were published on the internet on Tuesday. The couple, who have a daughter, are currently going through a divorce.
