Work is to be carried out on Bratislava's Old Bridge project round-the-clock in a three-shift operation as of Thursday in order to meet the deadlines set by the European Union, announced Bratislava's chief traffic engineer Tatiana Kratochvílová. Construction of a new pillar, which is due to replace the original two pillars, has been launched Thursday. Eurovia SK, the contractor, was instructed to work on the project round-the-clock by Bratislava's mayor Ivo Nesrovnal (Independent) in mid-January. Head of the company Róbert Šinály noted that the workers will be welding the support construction mainly on the Petržalka side of Danube River under floodlights. According to Šinály, the contractor will deal with the increased water level systematically.
