European Commission criticizes Slovakia for expensive energies

The European Commission criticizes Slovakia's energy policy. As it is implied in the commission's national report on Slovakia published at the end of the last week, the high costs of power networks set by the Regulatory Office for Network Industries hinder the competitiveness of Slovak companies. "According to Eurostat data, energy charges set by regulators of network industries both for industry and households are among the highest in the European Union," notes the report. The network charges for industrial customers in Slovakia are the second highest in the EU. The Slovak regulatory office doesn't agree with the report and in the upcoming days it should inform about their further steps. "We will now carefully analyze the published report and the amount of biased tendentious distortion EC representation in Slovakia involved in its report," said Miroslav Lupták, spokesperson of the Regulatory Office.
