US Embassy welcomes Slovak fight against corruption and support for Ukraine

Anti-corruption measures in Slovakia and the situation in Ukraine were among the main issues discussed by Prime Minister Robert Fico and US Ambassador to Slovakia Theodore Sedgwick on Friday. The ambassador praised the steps that Slovakia has taken in the fight against corruption, including the recent Rule of Law initiative, which saw cooperation between 14 business associations, employer unions and trade chambers headed by the US Trade Chamber dedicated to the topic of the rule of law in Slovakia. Moreover, according to the US ambassador, the United States welcomes the significant support provided by Slovakia to Ukraine. "We thank Slovakia for enabling a reverse gas flow. We're really grateful for action taken by Slovakia concerning Ukraine. We need to stay united in our response to Russia if it chooses to continue violating the Minsk Implementation Plan from 12 February," said Sedgwick during his meeting with the prime minister.
