Summit in Bratislava to present Slovak Start-ups to British investors

Even though a great deal of innovative ideas can be found in Slovakia, there is still lack of finances and better promotion abroad. This situation has prompted the Finance Ministry along with the British Embassy in Slovakia to organize a Strategic Entrepreneurs Summit on the financing of start-ups. The event, slated for 13 March in Bratislava, is designed to lend inspiration to Slovak businessmen and to give them an opportunity to present their potential to British investors. The Finance Ministry also plans to unveil its strategy for supporting start-ups in the next few weeks. "We've focused on individual start-up development phases. We'd like to provide support during the initial valley of death, but maybe even for later growth phases," said Zuzana Nehajová, director of the department for financing economic growth strategy. The measures conceived should include a simpler legislative environment, financing via Slovak Investment Holding, support for education, cooperation among the Visegrad Four countries (V4: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) and also tax licence payment exemptions for start-ups.
