Slovakia has to secure a better approach in service towards crime victims and to protect them sufficiently. This should be enacted following a European directive which tries to equalise the rights of a victim with those of a criminal. The Justice Minister Tomáš Borec has established a work group for implementation of the directive to Slovak legal system. According to a Member of Parliament Janka Šípošová, the protection of victims is now insufficient in Slovakia. She has established an association help to victims of violence. As she said, an accused offender has the right for a lawyer as a help from state while victims are deprived of this possibility.
