The chairperson of a Košice Regional Court senate has decided to remand a man referred to only as Hamzat S., who is suspected of terrorism crimes in the Russian Federation, in extradition custody as of Monday. "It's possible to submit an appeal against this decision within three days", said court spokesperson Marcela Galova. He would have to remain behind bars during the appeal, which would be dealt with by the Supreme Court. Hamzat S., a 32-year-old man of Chechen origin, was arrested at the Vyšné Nemecké (Košice region) border crossing between Slovakia and Ukraine on January 15. When checking his documents and comparing them with the Interpol database, the police discovered that he's wanted in Russia on suspicion of committing acts of terrorism. An international arrest warrant for him was issued in 2007.
