Slovak skier Veronika Velez Zuzulová ended her second run of the women´s slalom as part of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Maribor, Slovenia, in an impressive second place, climbing up from eighth position after the first round. Zuzulová achieved her best result of the season, with champagne corks popping at the presentation ceremony. The American two-time world champion and Olympic winner Mikaela Shiffrin came in a tight 1.03 seconds earlier, claiming first place, while third place went to Šárka Strachová of the Czech Republic. "What didn't work out in America at the World Championships has worked now. I'm very happy with this result. I'm aware that I am in good form, but it's not without fault", said Velez Zuzulová.
