The European Union is interested to see that exports of energy products from the USA to Europe being made easier as part of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreement, European Commission Vice-president for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič has said in Bratislava. According to Šefčovič, the Commission will attempt to include the demands within the EU for a more collective approach and assertive energy diplomacy into the new strategic framework of the Energy Union. "The first result of this is the EU having a very strong chapter [in the agreement] on cooperation with USA in energy. The EU is also interested to see exports of energy products from the USA to EU simplified," said Šefčovič. "We want to propose to take a look at opportunities of optimising the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in Europe, as their capacities aren't fully used at the moment," said Šefčovič.
